Chalk themed issue of ICE Proceedings – Geotechnical Engineering

The organizing committee of the Chalk 2018 conference is pleased to announce a collaboration with the journal ICE Proceedings – Geotechnical Engineering, which plans to produce a themed issue on Engineering in Chalk, to complement the Chalk 2018 conference.

Conference authors who would like to publish their findings in fuller detail (beyond the six pages of A4 planned for the conference papers) will be able to submit an additional, longer, paper to the ICE Proceedings. The themed issue is planned to be published in late 2018, soon after the conference.

Authors who submit conference abstracts (via the conference website) will be contacted by the conference committee where there are obvious opportunities to submit a second, expanded, paper to the themed issue of the journal. Alternatively, authors can submit direct to the journal website.

Abstracts should be submitted under the following Technical Themes:

  • Case histories of construction and engineering
  • Earthworks
  • Foundations and piling
  • Future engineering issues
  • Geological hazards
  • Offshore engineering
  • Site investigation/characterization
  • Testing – in situ and laboratory
  • Tunnelling
  • Water and the environment

Engineering in Chalk is a major two-day international conference organized by the British Geotechnical Association (BGA) with support from the Engineering Group of the Geological Society (EGGS), and will be held on 17th and 18th September 2018 at Imperial College in London.
